The Legacy of a Legend

Raymond Morgan

Raymond Morgan was the preacher who had preceded me in Rosebud.  He was an elder in the 7^th and G church in Temple, and was probably in his late fifties at the time.  He had preached for the church for ten years, but he wanted to be more active in Temple, and he wanted the church in Rosebud to have a full time minister.

He was the kind of man who could calm troubled waters.  He was always a great encouragement to me.  I don’t ever remember him offering any unsolicited advice.  He was the kind of person whose presence invited respect.   One of the things I remember most about him was that statement. “If I had only two words to describe the gospel, those two words would be ‘give’ and ‘forgive.’”
