In the previous blog I expressed the fear that I would leave
someone out that I really wanted to mention.
Of course, that’s exactly what I did.
I forgot about Nick and Lora Lynne Saunders. I worked with Nick at camp over several
years, and the two of them have been good friends ever since. It seems like we’ve been able to stay in
constant contact through all the years.
Nick is a native of Indiana, and Lora Lynne grew up in Iowa.
I guess the best way I can describe Nick is to say that he
is a free spirit. You can’t categorize
him, pigeon hole him or classify him. He
is a unique individual with a strong faith.
Sometimes he irritates people by asking them questions they would rather
not answer, but Nick doesn’t have an agenda when he does this. He just dares to come right out and ask what
the rest of us have wondered about, but have been afraid to ask. Lora Lynne is a polar opposite. I don’t mean to say that she’s always
predictable and has no independent thoughts, but Lora Lynne is practical and
cautious. It seems like they are
perfectly matched. Their strengths complement
each other.
There’s one area in which they are of one mind. They are caring, loving, and serving
people. They seriously try to follow
Jesus’ example of servanthood. For that
and for many other reasons I’m glad to number them among my friends.
